Bags Of Style

Westfield London recently had a very stylish visitor through its doors – the fabulous singer and songwriter, Mariah Carey. She made sure that the Christmas lights switch-on was full of  glamour and glitz!

We were lucky enough to interview the star prior to the event and we thought it would be nice to take her some gifts, available from some of the stores at Westfield London. You can see our interview with Mariah on You Tube – if you watch it until the end, she thanks us for our gifts!

We decided that a girl can never have too many bags, so we chose some fabulous arm candy appropriate for the songstress. First up, was this fabulous patriotic bag from Aspinal Of London. Mariah is known to be a huge fan of the UK, so we thought she might like to carry a very British bag. We love this quirky look and the tote style means everything an A-list star might need to carry around with fit in easily. The Brit Tote is available to buy for £325.

The other gift came from Mimco, one of Australia’s leading accessories brand. As well as a necklace and earrings fit for a diva, we also gave her this fabulous clutch bag from the Barbie Loves Mimco range – it’s the perfect size for a night out.  So there you have it – the perfect A list pressies available to buy now at Westfield London!

Thermals Go Sexy!

Whoever thought that thermal clothing would be cool? Well thanks to the amazing new campaign from Uniqlo, thermals are now well and truly fashoinable!

The Uniqlo Heattech collection was launched in the UK last winter and was an instant success as not only does it keep your warm and snuggly, but it looks great as well.

This year, uber photographer Mario Testino has shot a standout campaign featuring (warm) models against a mountain backdrop. Lily Donaldson, Erin Wasson, Karlie Kloss, and Coco Rocha are just a handle of the recognisable faces who feature in the campaign to advertise this unique UNIQLO product which is worn by 1 in 3 Japanese people.

Unlike normal thermal wear, Heattech has a silky texture, which feels great next to the skin. The range, which includes leggings, t-shirts, tights and socks, starts at the very small £6.99 and is available for both men and women, both in store and online.

So instead of shivering in the cold over the coming months, make sure you look stylish and warm with Uniqlo’s fabulous new range – well if it’s good enough for our style icon Erin Wasson, it’s good enough for us!

Go Wild For Animal Print!

It’s the print that just doesn’t seem to be going away! Leopard print has come a long way from the days of being associated with EastEnders characters and market stalls and is proving it’s fashion credentials by being seen on the back stylish stars such as Kate Moss and Lily Allen.

The high street has really gone wild for this dramatic print – and we can see why. It’s a simple way to elevate a boring item such as a mac or scarf into a whole new fashion realm! For the daring among you, it’s one print that looks amazing in bright colours or clashed with other prints, however, even for those normally nervous of prints, it’s one look to try out.

Why not add a bright pink leopard print scarf (like the one below from Dorothy Perkins) over a boring black coat? Or perhaps add a touch of the exotic to skinny jeans with some leopard print boots from Clarks?

And it needn’t stop at your wardrobe – Julien McDonald has designed fabulous leopard print martini glasses for his Debenhams range, so you can now bring a touch of animal magic to your home. Grrr!

Cheryl Cole Gets Deep…

Don’t worry – popstar and style icon Cheryl Cole hasn’t suddenly gone all philosophical on us. The deep we’re talking about refers to her fabulous nails!

While watching The X Factor the other day, we spotted Cheryl’s gorgeous deep violet nail colour and immediately set off on a search for a similar hue. It’s a great colour for this time of the year – dark enough to be sultry and glam, but different enough to stand out of the crowd.

The best match we’ve found is Nail Inc’s Belgrave Place. This deep inky violet colour thankfully doesn’t come with the A-list price tag though and can be picked up from House Of Fraser and Debenhams for just £10.50. So stock up now and come the festive season, you can have nails as starry as Cheryl’s!

Hot or Not? Jeggings

There’s one so-called fashionable item that we’ve got to call to task – jeggings. Part jean, part legging nearly all of the top high street stores stock this peculiar fashion item. More structure than a legging, but not as flattering as a pair of jeans, they also seem to be on all you fashion lovers.

Now we have seen some people rock this look, but we’ve also seen a lot of unflattering jeggings out there. Unless you’re stick thin with legs to die for, we think this is one trend to avoid – but what do you think? Are jeggings your thing? Or do you think they should be consigned to the fashion bin?

Jimmy Choo hits H&M

Ooo, we’ve been waiting for this day since June, when we first heard that luxury accessories brand Jimmy Choo were teaming up with one of our high street faves, H&M. Well that day is almost here! On Saturday 14th November, the new range will be sold in 200 stores worldwide – and what a fabulous range it is!

Featuring key animal prints often seen in the high end Jimmy Choo line, the prices thankfully are more affordable. The collection doesn’t only include shoes and bags either – we love this suede fringed dress (£49.99) and this beautiful beaded dress (£99.99), which is just perfect for Christmas parties! And all you stylish men out there, will be pleased to know that it’s not just for ladies – the range includes some great menswear – like this leather jacket at £179.99.

Steal Cat Deeley’s Style

With the days getting colder, we’ve been thinking about getting a new winter coat. The problem is there are just too many too choose from so thank goodness for Cat Deeley!

We spied a picture of her arriving at an aiport, looking all girl next door casual sexy, in a gorgeous grey military style coat. Obviously we thought this was above our means, but were delighted to find out it actually came from Monsoon.

The Michelangelo Military Coat is from their Fusion range and we think it’s the perfect winter cover up. As Cat proved, it looks great teamed with skinny jeans and casual boots, but will also look great over workwear. We’re snapping it up now as at £100, it’s a real celebrity steal!

Beauty Treats: Back To The ‘80s

A key trend for this season, the eighties dominated the catwalks with bold shoulders, neon brights, and flamboyant patterns.

It’s one trend that has filtered quickly down to the high street and now thanks to Elizabeth Arden, it’s reached our dressing tables as well.

Elizabeth Arden have taken their iconic 8 hour cream formula and produced a fabulous new retro-looking collection, which is just so right for now. The Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant and Eight Hour Lip Protectant Stick still contain those skin restorative abilities we’ve come to know and love, but now they’ve got a brand new season look!

Taking inspiration from the bright colours of the ‘80s, we love this fun packaging, which takes us back to the days when we’d jump around our bedrooms singing Madonna songs into our hairbrushes!

This cool range (priced at £17 each) is available nationwide from Boots and selected department stores from 16th November.

Steal Beverley Knight’s Style

It’s refreshing in these credit crunch times to find that not all celebrities throw their cash after designer gear!

At one of the star’s recent performances, we couldn’t help but notice her amazing shoes, which were skyscraper heels at their finest. Thankfully the star was happy to share her shopping tips with us and revealed where she’d bought her fabulous shoes. It wasn’t Jimmy Choo (even though she does sing about them on her new album), but good old Kurt Geiger!

beverley-knight

They’re from the Solea range and are £100 – a whole lot cheaper than Jimmy Choos. We think they make the perfect new season buy – wear with thick opaque tights and sequin dresses or team with your skinny jeans and a biker jacket for that perfect rock chick look.

We’re off to buy them right away, although at just under 5 inches high we’ll be getting a cab whenever we wear them!
