The Aviator Jacket

It may seem a little early to be thinking about dressing for winter, but sometimes you need to plan ahead. A key piece for Autumn/Winter 2010 is the Aviator jacket.

They are literally flying off the shelves already – scuse the pun! We love this Topshop version with the buckle details and soft, snuggly sheepskin lining. It almost makes us want the sun to stop shining so that we can wrap up in the gorgeous shearling.

Whitney Port in summer florals

Summer dressing and floral prints seem to go hand in hand. This year’s no exception. We’ve spotted some rather stylish celebs in cute floral dresses this week – Cat Deeley, Eva Longoria Parker and Whitney Port, to name but a few.

We love Whitney’s dressed down look here. It’s slouchy, relaxed and casual with her simple embellished flipflops. She’s kept her hair loose and tousled for a style that looks effortless (even if it took an age to put together).

If you want to adopt the romantic floral look, check out some of these sweet, ditsy dresses.

Left to right: Roseprint dress, Miss Selfridge at House of Fraser £40; Sophie tea dress, Oliver Bonas £69; Romantic floral dress, Warehouse £30 now £25.

Dove hand cream

Beauty Review: Dove Regenerating Night Beauty Hand Cream

Dove Regenerating Night Beauty Hand Cream

Price: £3.00 (75ml)
Available from: Boots

What it claims to do
Stress and daytime challenges can compromise hands’ beauty. So, during the night the skin needs help to strengthen its moisture barrier and renew its natural beauty. That’s why Dove has created this hand cream that actually helps renew your skin at night while it’s calming scent comforts your soul.

Our reviewer says
I love the Dove night cream! I’m now addicted and have to put it on every night just before bed. I wake up every morning to soft hands and my nails are even growing longer and stronger too!

Final verdict
The product definitely achieves what it claims to do. It’s a bargain at £3 too! This is a great night cream to soothe hands dried out from everyday stress and even rough winter hands. I don’t know if the calming scent comforts my soul, but I would recommended anyone to buy this night cream.

Utility fashion

Looking for some pieces that will see you through from summer to autumn? You can’t go wrong with a few neutral items that are hot right now and will be holding strong into the new season.

Utility fashion is ideal for summer and makes a change from cute ditsy florals, bold prints and statement maxi dresses. Choose khaki and typical safari tones and team them with simple white or neutral pieces for summer cool.

Cargo pants are the trousers of choice right now. Look out for super skinnies, peg leg and hareem styles. Style them up with some hot heels - platforms, wedges or wooden sole clogs.

Left to right: Utility skinnies, Warehouse £15 now £10; Khaki peg trousers, Dorothy Perkins £28; Khaki zip back hareem pants, Topshop £35.

A simple vest, tee or classic white shirt is the ideal partner.

Left to right: Compact cotton sleeveless Tee, Uniqlo £14.99; Ecru vest, Next £16; Military vest, H! by Henry Holland at Debenhams £16

The utility trend isn’t all about cargo pants though. You’ll find a range of safari-inspired pieces around too. Whilst utility trousers are all about being relaxed and slouched, dresses and skirts  are more structured and tailored.

Left to right: Safari shirtdress, Karen Millen £165; Military skirt, Next £28; Scout dress, Cos £65.

Finish off with chunky jewellery. Gold looks great with these neutral tones.

Spend or save: leopard print

Animal print is everywhere for Autumn/Winter 2010. The fash pack are going wild for a touch of leopard print in particular.

Check out Topshop’s new season collection and you’ll see everything from super-skinnies to blazers to peep-toe platforms in the distinctive print.

It was this large leopard-print bag that caught our eye in Topshop. It is a real beauty – a quality leather bag with leopard print outer to make you stand out from the crowd. Utterly fabulous and it can be yours for £90.

We clocked a very similar number by Alexander Wang – the Millie leopard bag. This premium designer bag is on many a fashionista’s wishlist or already on their handbag arm. It’s a great statement piece, but it’s practical too as it’s big enough for a laptop. It also has the premium designer price tag of £795.Leopard print bags

Would you choose the Alexander Wang bag (left) at £795 or the Topshop version (right) for £90?
