Lady in red

Looking for the perfect red dress for the new season? Well look no further than this fantastic buy from Oasis (£50).

It’s so ladylike, with cute ruffles on the sleeves and pretty bow details to draw attention to the waist. We love the Peter Pan collar which you’ll spot a lot in Autumn/Winter collections this year.

The shape is 60s-inspired which is big news this season. It’s all about Mad Men styling and femininity. Complete your ladylike look with a chic bag carried in the crook of your arm and a pair of kitten heels.

So ditch the black for a while, and be a lady in red.

Kiehl’s creme de corps

Beauty Review: Kiehl’s creme de corps

Price: from £15.50
Available from: House of Fraser

What it claims to do:
Super-enriched moisturising treatment for the body with Beta-Carotene for dry skin that needs extra care and moisture nourishment. It takes a little linger to soak in, but worth the wait! Since its birth more than 30 years ago, Creme de Corps has always been a favourite with almost 30 million ml produced a year! It is also known as “the secret backstage weapon”, being used on models’ legs to smooth and give high shine on the catwalk.

Our reviewer says:
A light-weight cream that glides on and sinks into the skin faster than I expected. Pleasant fragrance that is not too strong. I used it on a bad case of sunburn and it prevented peeling.

Final verdict
I really like this product and would certainly recommend it. I will be changing my body moisturiser to this one.

Cat Deeley’s accessories

Cat Deeley looked gorgeous at the Teen Choice Awards. Her asymmetric white dress and lattice heels worked so well with her golden skintone. But it was her accessories that really stood out to us.

Stacked up on her wrist was a heap of friendship bracelets. Not just any friendship bracelet though – we can’t quite picture Cat at home weaving threads – these are Links of London friendship bracelets. Cat mixed up fluro-coloured bands with 3D silver skull and heart design bracelets.

Always with an eye for detail, Cat added the finishing touches of a dazzling blue clutch and neon pink toe polish. Fabulous!

The new ‘it’ polish of the season

Get set to pounce – the nail varnish of the season hits stores on Friday 13th August. Perfectly manicured claws will be out to grab the new Autumn/Winter 2010 must-have shade by Chanel – Paradoxal.

We’ve seen a fashionista frenzy before with Chanel’s hot nail polishes. In AW 2009 it was Particulière that flew off the shelves, then along came the gorgeous minty green Jade Rose which we’re still loving now. We’re sure that Pardoxal will cause the same buzz.

Aptly for autumn, Paradoxal is a kind of aubergine shade. It’s purple with grey tones which are hot shades for the new season. Paradoxal coloured nails will look fabulous holding on to this season’s must-have ladylike bags.

No fashionista should be without it. Hurry to House of Fraser or Boots and get your hands on Paradoxal this Friday!

Kimberley Walsh’s budget beauty buys

We tend to assume that celebs only use the most expensive beauty products. Not the down-to-earth Girls Aloud star Kimberly Walsh it appears. Kimberley loves a budget beauty buy.

Kimberley has revealed the secret to her luscious-looking locks. On tour, she used Supersoft Yogurt and Coconut Smoothie conditioner. It’s available in Superdrug for a mere £1.99! To give you hair a deeper condition, apply the conditioner and then cover your hair with a plastic bag or shower cap, leaving the conditioner to really sink in.

Kimberley’s also a fan of a very purse-friendly cleansing lotion too. The gorgeous Girls Aloud star uses Boots Original Formula Cold Cream to cleanse her skin. It’s a traditional formula that Boots resurrected from the archives. It’s simple but so effective. Plus, it’s only £4.89 (50ml)!

Kimberley’s not the only celeb who likes a simple cold cream cleanser. Kylie does too. When Kylie mentioned that she uses Pond’s cold cream (£3.99 from Boots) regularly, sales of the product soared. Well if cold cream is good enough for Kylie and Kimberley, it’s good enough for us!

Benefit Erase Paste

Beauty Review: Benefit Erase Paste

Price: £18.50
Available from: Debenhams

What it claims to do:
Benefit erase paste. Available in three shades to suit your individual skin tone, this brightener and concealer is great for getting rid of dark circles and to highlight to give your skin a natural looking radiance. Contained in a adorable little pot, the erase paste comes with a spatula and is easy to blend and apply for great coverage.

Our reviewer says:
This is a pretty serious concealer. It really does cover up blemishes and discolouration, but you only need to apply a small amount otherwise it looks caked on. Make sure you blend it in properly too, otherwise it can accentuate those little lines around your eyes. That said, it really does the trick. My undereye area certainly looked a whole lot less dark when I used it.

It comes with a handy little spatula which makes application so much easier and more hygienic. Plus, it can be a little tricky trying to get the right amount of concealer on your finger in that little pot.

A little really does go a long way. It’s a pretty heavy duty concealer, so not necessarily for everyday usage. My small pot has lasted months and months, which is makes it all the better value for money too.

Final verdict:
If you want to hide dark circles, redness or nasty blemishes then this will do it. It’s easy to apply and one small pot last for ages. With this great concealer, no-one needs to know just how late you were out last night!

Spend or save: print platforms?

If you’re looking for a statement shoe, then these could be the ones for you. The Miu Miu bird print platform will definitely make you stand out from the crowd. Here at Westfield HQ we think they’re fabulous, but opinion is divided.

Animal print is everywhere for A/W 2010 and we don’t just mean leopard print. You’ll find plenty of animal motifs around too – sheep, cats, horses, puppy dogs and more. Miu Miu embraced the bird print and you’ll see it across the collection. These platform shoes are chunky yet cute, but they’ve sold quickly. If you have £395 to spend on these divine heels, you’ll need to hotfoot it to get your pair fast.

Not quite in your price range? Fear not, high street favourite River Island has been inspired. Check out these cherry print platforms at a budget-friendly £54.99. You’ll still make a statement and attract attention in these brilliant chunky heels with a cute print and jewel embellishment, but you won’t need an overdraft to buy them.

Lush body tint

Beauty Review: Lush Charlotte Island body tint

Price: £4.95 (100ml) or £9.95 (240ml)

Available from: Lush

What it claims to do:
Our new bronzing body tint helps you to build a healthy glow without having to subject yourself to excessive sunlight. We’ve made it with organic lemon infusion, organic oils and cocoa butter to brighten and hydrate the skin.
It’s easily absorbed, full of cooling aloe vera gel to cool sore and sensitive skin with a violet and banana fragrance.

Our reviewer says:
I was incredibly excited when this product hit the stores as I have tried a lot of fake tans and generally been put off by how difficult they are to apply and also how they smell liked Rich Tea biscuits! The scent of this one is lovely,  even though violet and banana sounds like a random combo.
It’s really easy to apply and surpringly easy to create an even tone on my skin. When I tried it I had a few random sunburn lines (that’s what you get for falling asleep on the beach before re-applying the factor 50!), so I was even more pleased that it matched evenly.

It does absorb really well, but like every fake tan product, you need to make sure your skin is fully exfoliated before applying it otherwise it’ll clump.

Final verdict:
I love this! It smells great and you can use apply as many layers as you need according to your skin tone. This is my new best friend for summer!
