L’Occitane hair mask

Beauty Review: L’Occitane Masque Eclat Shine Mask- Repairing Mask for Dry and Damaged Hair

Price: £19.00 (250ml)
Available from: L’Occitane

What it claims to do:
Particularly recommended for coloured and chemically-treated hair, this hair mask nourishes and deeply restores capillary fibre. Repairing, stimulating and regenerating, it protects against the damaging effects of environmental stresses. This rich and silky cream leaves your hair strong, shiny, soft, and smooth.

Formulated with natural vegetable complex of 5 essential oils and sunflower and wheat oils, this silky hair mask helps nourish, deeply restore and protect the hair.

Our reviewer says:
I don’t have dry hair and rarely use conditioner, but I tried this regardless. It smells great and is quite a thick consistency so it stays in the hair well once applied. I used it on damp hair, but you can use it on dry or damp hair.

You can feel the difference in your hair as soon as you rinse it out. It does feel softer instantly. I don’t usually use something so intensive on my hair – so I could see instant benefits. My hair was super soft, so I had to use a lot more hair product to get my hair to stay in place the day after I’d used it!

Final verdict:
It’s not something I’d use on a daily basis, but this product is an absolute must-have for someone who suffers from dry hair!

Lanvin for H&M

Oh wow. Oh wow. We can hardly contain our excitement here at Westfield HQ. We might just get our hands on some exquisite Lanvin-designed pieces.
H&M has announced its latest designer collaboration. This November, Lanvin for H&M will hit the stores. We reckon it’ll be one of the most anticipated fashion drops of the year. Only two and a bit months to wait…

It’s not the first time that H&M have surprised the fashion pack with their collaborations. In previous seasons, they’ve teamed up with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garçons and Sonia Rykiel.

Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin says: “H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.”

We say: roll on 23rd November when the collection arrives at H&M

Good Things Stay Clear Purifying Cleanser

Beauty Review: Good Things Stay Clear Purifying Cleanser

Price: £4.99
Available from: Exclusively at Boots
What it claims to do:
Oily skin needs careful treatment to clear away excess sebum without stripping it of moisture. In addition to mango and blueberry extracts, this gentle anti-blemish cleanser contains willow-bark extract, which has an anti-microbial action on the skin, so is good for young skin that is prone to breakouts.

Our reviewer says:
Good Things by British Journalist Alice Hart-Davis caught my eye recently in Boots so I decided to give it a go as my skin has broken out over the summer. I tend to avoid anti-acne skincare ranges as I find them too harsh on my skin and they only irritate it further. Good Things is more gentle than most brands and smells absolutely good enough to eat!

Final verdict:
I think this range is perfect for young skin as it cleanses without stripping the skin of moisture which can cause more breakouts and skin irritation. I think it’s perfect for teens and those starting out their first skincare regime and it’s a great price.

Peter Pilotto for Kipling

We love it when fab designers team up with an iconic brand to make aspirational pieces that little bit more accessible. So we were so pleased to hear that Kipling has worked with Peter Pilotto on a striking collection for A/W 10. Together, they’ve produced some really eye-catching accessories.

Peter Pilotto won an emerging talent award last year, so working with Kipling is an amazing platform to showcase their work. The bags and wallets feature really strong, bold prints in vibrant colours. There’s a definite cosmic vibe about the prints, and the signature Kipling monkey clings on to the space-age products.

The design duo behind Peter Pilotto say that their inspiration for the print was an ‘intergalactic traveller‘. So if you want to boldly go where no man has gone before, this is the accessories range for you!

The Peter Pilotto for Kipling capsule collection will be in store from 17th September 2010.

Neal’s Yard Remedies face mask

Beauty Review: Neal’s Yard Remedies Power Berry Face Mask

Available from: Neal’s Yard Remedies

Price: £24
What it claims to do:
Boosts radiance and protects youthful skin.
Antioxidant-rich acai, bilberry, cranberry and grape in a gel refining mask, revitalises for fresh, glowing skin

Our reviewer says:
This face mask is totally different to those that I’ve used in the past. It’s literally like putting berries on your skin and it makes you look very grubby whilst it is on. You leave it on for 10 minutes, then when you wash it off, it forms a milk-like consistency which you massage in.

It does make your skin feel lovely and it gives you a bit of a glow.  It’s not an exfoliating mask, so it’s not one to use to cleanse your pores. It does make your skin feel brighter though.

Final verdict:
I will continue to use this mask as it does give your skin a boost. I’ll still use my exfoliating mask for a deep cleanse though.

The return of Biba

The iconic British fashion label which defined the look of the 1960s and 1970s is back for 2010 at House of Fraser. Biba oozes glamour and decadence. It’s super-stylish with an added dose of British eccentricity.

And who could be the face for such a brand? It’s the ever stylish, quintessentially British Daisy Lowe!

Biba may be a heritage brand, but the new collection is definitely contemporary and on trend for A/W 2010. Look out for the eye-catching leopard print coat, the military jacket and the fluffy marabou jackets in pretty nude shades.

Left to right: Leopard print coat, £165 and bag £125; Military mid-length coat, £290 and bag £250.

The eveningwear collection is striking too. You’ll find decadent velvet gowns alongside sparkling embellished tunics. The mix of textures is fabulous, so mix and match between soft, fluffy faux furs and sequinned or silk dresses.

Left to right: Print dress £125; Fluffy jacket £175 and embellished dress £135.

Biba launches in House of Fraser on 9th September.
