Shu Uemura essence absolue

Beauty review: Shu Uemura essence absolue

Available from:  Toni&Guy

Price: £38

What it claims to do:
Formulated with precious Camellia Oil, which was used with geishas’ renowned haircare. The Oil’s source is the Camellia Japonica, a centenarian tree whose extraordinary blossom defends against the harshest of snows.
shu uemura  Art of Hair Essence Absolue has been created with Camellia Oil that leaves hair with definitive richness and a petal-weight finish.
shu uemura  Art of Hair Essence Absolue recreates geisha hair beauty secrets. It invites hair to expose it’s true natural beauty, revealing shine, suppleness and smoothness. The Oil can be used as both a leave-in and pre-shampoo.

Review
I recently had a shu uemura hair treatment at Toni&Guy http://www.westfieldstylenotes.com/toniguy-shu-uemura-hair-treatment/ and loved it so much that I had to try their best-selling essence absolue oil for hair. This is apparently one of the reasons why Jennifer Aniston’s hair looks as amazing as it does (ok, a designer haircut helps). I use it on towel dried hair and use only a few drops through the ends before blow-drying. The oil smells amazing and soaks into my cuticles when rubbed on my hands. It does not feel greasy or oily at all and leaves hair glossy and feeling silky.

Verdict
This product is definitely on the pricey side, but like most shu uemura products, a little goes a long way. I have been using my oil every day for 3 months and am not even 1/3 through the bottle. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to improve the condition of their hair, especially those with split-ends or dry hair.

Clarins Hydraquench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase

Beauty review: Clarins Hydraquench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase

Available from: House of Fraser, Debenhams

Price:  £37.50

What it claims to do:
Intensive SOS Treatment for Dehydrated Skin. A light yet deeply comforting bi-phase which intensively hydrates, repairs and rebalances dehydrated skin, smoothing away premature wrinkles and restoring radiance.

For all skin types and all climates. Skin Type: Dry/ Dehydrated. Shake well and apply morning and/or evening to face and neck after cleansing. Follow with a moisturiser.

The review:
I’ve been using this to help when my skin is dry from too much sun exposure or from this winter wind and central heating. It’s best used after cleansing and before moisturising to give an extra hydrating boost. I’ve found that it definitely makes a difference to my skin, my skin feels instantly softer and fine lines look less obvious.

Final verdict:
My skin looks noticeably more radiant and moisturised, I’ve even had two people ask me what I’ve been doing that’s different – so that’s always a good sign!

Sarah Louise’s must have beauty products
- YSL Touche Eclat – everyone recommends this but they do it for a reason. Even if you’re having a no make-up day it can give you a little pep around the eyes.
- Laura Mercier lipsticks and tinted moisturiser – their consultants are great at picking colours that make a dramatic difference.
Chanel Hydramax + Active Nutrition lip balm – great under or over lipstick.
- A good mascara – I have no loyalty but am currently favouring Benefit’s Bad Gal.
(All available from Boots, Debenhams, House of Fraser except Laura Mercier which is House of Fraser only.)

Sarah’s favourite treatment
Call me strange but a good leg and bikini wax puts a spring in my step! For a more outwardly glamorous transformation then nothing beats a good hair wash and blow dry, particularly in the hands of the super-speedy staff at a Hershesons Blowdry Bar.

Sarah’s best beauty tips
- If your skin is looking dull then eat lots of greens, parsley is particularly good.
- Invest in a really good cleanser and make sure you use it!
- Never test more than three lipsticks in a row as your lips will stop showing the colours properly.

Anna’s must-have beauty products
- YSL Touche Eclat – I don’t get as much sleep as I should so this is my saviour. £24 from House of Fraser
- MAC liquid eyeliner plus brush – This is my evening eye essential nowadays.  The pot of Fluidline in blacktrack last absolutely ages and glides on easily and evenly with the Precision brush, £12.50 and £13.50 from MAC.

Anna’s favourite beauty treatment
A very long mani-pedicure with all the frills.  That includes a paraffin wrap and champagne

Anna’s best beauty tips
- Run.  A good run in the wind keeps you fit, gets the blood flow going and also exfoliates the skin. And it may seem obvious but keep your face protected from the sun with a good sunscreen in the summer.
- Cleanse your skin first by using a wash off make-up remover rather than a cream cleanser keeping the amount of rubbing at your face to a minumum.

Jessica’s must-have beauty products
- Lancome Noir eyeliner – –the only eyeliner I’ve found that won’t smudge or fade all day. House of Fraser £19.50
- Laura Mercier Crème Brulee Soufflé Body Crème – my favourite moisturiser. It isn’t cheap but used sparingly feels luxurious and smells so delicious you want to eat it! House of Fraser £42
- Shu Uemera eyelash curler – the best on the market. I curl the roots of the eyelashes and then half way along them. House of Fraser £19.50
- Aussie 3 minute miracle deep conditioner – I generally leave this in my hair for about 20 minutes (longer than the name suggests, I know) and the results are amazing. My hair feels glossy, silky and knot free. Boots £4.49
- Salvatore Ferragamo “F for Ferragamo” perfume – I love sweet fragrances, and this one is sweet, fruity and lasts for hours. Next £46

Jessica’s favourite beauty treatment
A great cut, colour and blow dry!

Jessica’s best beauty tip
To protect your hair from drying out in the sun, use a small amount of high factor tanning oil. It protects your hair from drying out because it’s oil and with a high factor, it reduces sun damage and stops it changing colour in the sun.

Meet the Westfield Beauty Panel

Sarah’s must-have beauty products
- Eye drops! Sounds dull but my eyes get red in front of a PC all day so I always freshen them up with brightening drops.
- Matt powder to remove that end-of-day shine
- YSL Touche Eclat – when I need to look awake at the end of the day, £24 from House of Fraser
- MAC Lipstick and Lipglass to either wear alone or as a balm if the lipstick proves drying, from £12 at MAC
- Elnett hairspray – the best hold and not too heavy, £3.99 (200ml) from Boots
- Clarins hand and nail treatment cream – love the texture, love the smell; £17 from Debenhams

I never leave the house without wearing:

BareMinerals bronzer - for that colour pick-me-up, it blends well for a natural finish (£17 from Debenhams)

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream – great for chapped lips and accidental burns! (£23 from House of Fraser)

MAC eye shadow – great colours and it tends to stay put longer than most (from £11 at MAC)

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm – if it’s been a hard night! It really does perk the skin up and help with the elasticity (£26.50 from Debenhams)

Sarah’s favourite beauty treatment
Moisturising anti-ageing facials
– my skin always looks well rested afterwards

Sarah’s best beauty tip
Always use an eyelash curler to open up your eyes. The trick is to use it twice on each eye before applying mascara.

If you’re wearing tights and your outfit is clinging to them, rub body moisturiser/hand cream into your hands and then rub this on to the outside of your tights – the static cling will disappear instantly.

Ciara’s best beauty tip
For silky smooth results from home waxing, heat your wax strips with a hairdryer. They work so much better when really hot!
