Naomi Campbell launches Fashion for Relief shop

Last night Naomi Campbell set up shop in The Village in Westfield London to launch possibly the best vintage store I’ve ever seen, her Fashion For Relief store.  Among her guests were fellow models such as Jodie Kidd, actors including The Wire and Thor star Idris Alba, and DJ for the night Sophie Ellis Bexter.

Here’s a sneak peak of what happened on the the night:

Sales were already flying off the shelves as a gold Victoria Beckham dress was very quickly snapped up.  We lusted after the outfits worn by the cast of Sex and the Cityand saw the Charlotte Olympia leopard print booties, made famous by Olivia Palermo at Fashion Week, on sale at less than half price (I would have bought them right there and then if they weren’t in a model foot size 8!)

Still there were plenty of other shoes ranging from Jimmy Choos to Christian Louboutins, at a hugely discounted price tag of around £200 – £300, to rummage through and some stunning dresses worn on the catwalk and the red carpet by everyone from Kate Moss to Shirley Bassey.

The shop will be restocked daily and is open for one week only.  Trust me, it’s well worth a visit and since all proceeds are going to the Prince’s Trust I see absolutely no reason not to buy yourself something pretty.  Well, that’s what I’m telling myself anyway.

Must have: PPQ for OFFICE

PPQ has become a favourite amongst the young and hip and this London Fashion Week boasted a front row including Paloma Faith, Girls Aloud’s Kimberly and Corinne Bailey-Rae.  Now PPQ have brought a little high fashion to the high street with a capsule collection for one of our favourite shoe stores OFFICE.

Inspired by the souks of Morroco, these gorgeous platforms and flats are in store from this week.  Here are three of our absolute favourites.

Left to right: Office Kella £70, Office Amina £85, Catwalk sandal £110

The 2011 Style Oscars

The big daddy of the awards season came and went last night.  There were no big surprises on the winners’ front with well-deserved wins from Colin Firth for The King’s Speech, Natalie Portman for Black Swan and Christian Bale and Melissa Leo for The Fighter.

Inside the auditorium, it was all about the craft but outside, on the red carpet, it was all about the fashion. With some serious contenders on the frock front the battle for best-dressed was almost as contentious as the Oscars but after much debate we’ve picked our favourites.

Best Female

The nominees

We have to hand it to Natalie Portman who looked lovely in her off the shoulder purple Rodarte number and we also loved Amy Adams L’Wren Scott floor length blue gown matched with emerald jewels.  Host for the evening Anne Hathaway didn’t disappoint as she chose an asymmetric Valentino for her entry, later changing into a further seven outfits while  Sandra Bullock wore Vera Wang, also in red.

The winner

The award for  best red carpet look has to go to Halle Berry.  Things have been a little quiet movie-wise for Miss Berry since her emotional win for Monster”s Ball but on the style front she seems to have gone back in time to her pre Oscar days with this Marchesa gown and her cropped hair. Stunning.

Best Male

The nominees

It’s sometimes easy to forget the men on the red carpet with all the feathers and sequins adorning the women. But though the suits may have been mostly black, they looked super stylish.  We loved in Hugh Jackman in Ferragamo, Robert Downey Jnr’s white tie and our host for the evening, James Franco, rocking a few outfit changes – mostly consisting of Gucci suits and one dress (Franco went drag while Anne Hathaway wore a tux for one section of the show, in case you missed it).  Both the leading and supporting male winners impressed with Colin Firth continuing to favour Tom Ford and Christian Bale teaming his full on beard with head to toe black.

The winner

But for us it was the perfectly fitted, perfectly classic look that Matthew McConnaughey worked in Dolce and Gabbana that stood out and led the way on the red carpet.

For a full list of all the winners (of the actual awards not our invented ones – delightful as we think they are) and a look at some of the highlights from the night visit Oscars.com.

Olivia Palermo’s leopard-print booties

All eyes were on Olivia Palermo this week as she stylishly moved from one show to another and from one outfit to another without breaking a sweat or a heel.  Whether she was in high street (her stunning dress in this picture is from Reiss) or designer there was one item that kept making an appearance, her Charlotte Olympia Alice Leopard Booties.

River Island Peep Toe Ankle boot £53; Kurt Geiger £150

Brits go back to black: Cheryl Cole and Adele celebrity style

We’ve been getting so excited about all the spring fashion coming in and getting used to seeing bright colours on the red carpet that we almost forgot that it was still winter.  Then it rained on our hair and we remembered.  Still, it was good to see two of our favourite Brits sporting long sleeved semi-gothic black numbers at the BRITS last night.

Adele, who gave an incredible performance last night, chose a sparkly number with sheer sleeves while Cheryl Cole also sparkled in her Stella McCartney floor-length long-sleeved dress with smokey eyes and swept back hair.

Here are four of our favourite Brits inspired dresses from the stores,

Sheer sleeves dress, £20; black lace open back dress, £30;  both Dorothy perkins

Samantha sequin dress, £160, French connection; baroque beaded dress, £85, Oasis

Jessica Alba’s red carpet style

Ahh the BAFTAs.  What a great night for The King’s Speech.  We always knew Colin Firth would do well, even in those days when we watched him stepping out of the lake in Pride and Prejudice we thought, yep, that man will go far…

Anyway, back to fashion. There were many hits and the odd miss but our favourite came from Miss Jessica Alba in a bright blue Atelier Versace dress teamed with bright red lips and a statement necklace.  We love this shorter version from Coast (£125).

Get the look: Chalet Girls Felicity Jones and Tamsin Egerton

This week we met the lovely Felicity Jones and Tamsin Egerton at the world premiere of their new film Chalet Girl in Westfield London. Both girls looked lovely on the red carpet with Felicity in an Atelier Mayer 1950′s Midnight Blue Velvet Dress and Tamsin showing off her mile-long legs in a black Armani number.

With Valentine’s Day coming up we could do with something elegant but sexy, a look that both girls nailed this week.  Here’s our favourite not-too-revealing LBD and velvet dress from the stores this week.

Black maxime dress, £95.00, Coast; Silk-blend velvet vixen ruffle dress, £50, at French Connection

Hot or Not: Leona’s lips

It had all seemed a little quiet on the Leona Lewis front but the X Factor winner has suddenly become the talk of the town again. Neither her singing nor her very gorgeous new haircut are garnering any column inches, but her odd choice of outfit for the premiere of Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never is getting plenty of attention.  The songstress turned up wearing a giant pair of lips on her bust in an outfit which has divided fashion critics.

We like that Leona is being braver and taking fashion into her own hands – particularly as she is rumoured to have designed the top herself – although we think these particular lips are, well, very large.  For a subtler take on this sub trend here are a few ideas:

Bangle, £99, Marc by Marc Jacobs; Lulu Guinness clutch, £195, at House of Fraser, Black pumps, £42, Office
