Tonight, I was at the UK premiere of Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon’s new film Water for Elephants at Westfield London and as I write this my ears are still ringing from the sounds of Robert Pattinson fans screaming his name as he walked the circus-themed red carpet.

I managed to grab him for a few words and to ask him if he was used to the hysteria yet that follows him everywhere he goes. ”No not really” he said looking around (cue another round of screaming) but he didn’t disappoint the fans, some of whom had waited up 40 hours to meet him, as he spent plenty of time signing autographs and taking photos with them.
Dressed in all black he channelled the dark and brooding look he’d become famous for but when we asked about his style icon status after being voted best-dressed man the shy star just said: “What can I say about it? Thanks, I guess.” He then tried to tell us a knock, knock joke to show that he had a lighter side to him.
The leading man was joined by his co-star in the film, Reese Witherspoon who looked stunning in a Stella McCartney blue dress and nude Christian Louboutin heels. Reese described Robert as fantastic to work with but gushed even more about her other co-star in the film, Tai the elephant.
Other attendees included pop’s golden couple Marvin from JLS and Rochelle from the Saturdays who matched in leopard print Dolce and Gabbana. The couple admitted that this was their first premiere together as a couple which Rochelle said “got me in the mood for a really nice dress”.
Water for Elephants is out in cinemas from 4 May.
