The must-have beauty items for party time

Tis the season to be merry, therefore we need some special beauty treats to keeep us looking and feeling perky before and after and we think (Santa, FYI) that we’d be adequately prepared with the likes of these four treats in our make up bag.

Bobbi Brown’s Ultimate  Party Collection would be the perfect compact for New Year’s Eve combined with a little Prada Candy gift set.  This Yves Saint Laurent Radiant Make up Set collection is the only way to look like you’ve had more beauty sleep than you may have actually had.  And we’ve recentlyfallen in love with Green and Spring andthis compact gift set is just what we’ll need for a little TLC.

Bobbi Brown, £59 at House of Fraser, Prada Candy Gift Set £53, Boots, Yves Sait Laurent £46.50, Boots, Green and Spring £14.50, House of Fraser

Most Wanted: Lace Dress, Topshop

Our love affair with lace isn’t over yet and we’ve fallen for this gorgeous Bonded Lace Skater dress from Topshop for £38.  Perfect worn with thick black tights, boots and leather for a trendy juxtaposition of styles and fabrics or teamed with flat black ballerinas and a cashmere cardi for a soft, elegant look. Love it.

Marni for H&M

We’d only just gotten over the frenzy that was the launch of Versace for H&M and started wondering what they’d do next… but we didn’t think they’d announce another partnership quite so soon.  The date is set as 8 March 2012 for the launch of Marni for H&M in stores.

Marni on the catwalk and Anne Hathaway in Marni

Marni’s signature style is full of clashing prints, colour blocking and some edgy, sporty style with plenty of tribal influence in 2012.  Here founder Consuela Castigliano gives us a little peek into the collection as she talks about the collaboration:

This season’s headgear: animals, pompoms and headbands

According to the weather forecast it’s about to turn into hat season so we’ve picked out our top trends for the head.

The quirky hat trend was still a hit on the catwalks and a high street favourite.  Try adding ears to a faux fur hat for a little fun factor or go all out with this wolf hat from River Island.

The Very Best of Versace for H&M. On your marks…

We’ve been counting down the days till the launch of the collection since the announcement of the Versace and H&M collaboration back in June.  Donatella Versace herself said it would be iconic and quintissentially Versace and the collection lives up to it. Featuring bold Versace prints alongside more classic, timeless pieces this has to be the most exciting designer/high street collaboration yet.

Versace for H&M Fashion Show, New York

Blake Lively and Helena Christensen at the Versace for H&M Show

Versace for H&M: classic silver and black

Versace for H&M: bold colour

So, with just two more days to go we’ve been meticulously planning our purchases.   Do we go for brash, bright classic Versace or more understated garments with staying power? The black silk dress with Versace logo buttons worn by Helena Christensen is one of our faves.

Take a look at some of our other top picks:  The Very Best of Versace for H&M.

Of course once the decisions are made, the question is, how do we make sure we get our hands on the ones we want. Experience proves that these collaborations sell out within moments and no doubt 17 November will be a frenzy at stores.  For the H&M stores at Westfield centres there will be a queuing system in place whereby the first 280 people in the queue can shop from the women’s designer collection only.  Then, after the first two hours, the designer area will open to all customers.  So, if you want your pick of the bunch, make sure you’re one of the first in the queue.

Which pieces are you on your wish list?

Most wanted: Kate Middleton’s LK Bennett coat

Earlier this week the Duchess of Cambridge beat the likes of fashion icons Kate Moss and Alexa Chung to be crowned the best dressed woman of Britain in 2011 by Harper’s Bazaar.

We’re huge fans of Kate’s elegant and classic style and once again the now officially best dressed woman in Britain showed us why she deserved her title when she stepped out in a stunning 70s style red coat from LK Bennett.

The Ami Coat comes in this burgundy colour (as seen on Kate) but also comes in a bang on trend toffee colour and classic black. It’s on sale now, down from £345.00 to £276.00.

Winter wardrobe essential: slouchy jumper

Is there a word more comfortable sounding than slouchy?  While comfort often has to take a back seat in the style stakes this does not have to be so with the slouchy jumper because, as Miss Palermo so stylishly demonstrates, slouchy can be chic.

But before you start stretching out your old jumpers or raiding your boyfriend’s wardrobe head to French Connection where we’re loving their selection of oversized knits like this one for £70. Pair with skinny jeans and ankle boots like these Biba coated jeans (£79) and River Island boots (£60),  grab a satchel – we love this cute Sofia bag by Marc B** from Topshop (£47) – and work slouchy to winter perfection just like Olivia.
