Farewell to Alexander McQueen

It is with heavy hearts that we report on the death of the ‘enfant terrible’ of British fashion, Alexander McQueen. The designer,  aged 40, was found dead at his Mayfair flat earlier today. A McQ fashion show scheduled for New York Fashion Week today has been cancelled in his honour.

His company have issued the following statement: ‘On behalf of Lee McQueen’s family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home.

‘At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family. Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.’

It’s a very sad day for fashion – the four times named British Designer of the Year was truly one of Britain’s most talented designers and his talent will be greatly missed.
