Breakfast with Coach at Westfield London

Yesterday we popped into the brand new Coach store at Westfield London for breakfast and a look at their collection of shoes, bags and accessories.

Although I went along as a bit of a Coach virgin one of my colleagues is a long-time lover of the brand and got extremely excited once in the store – she even squealed, yes squealed, when picking up a pair of shoes and exclaiming that these were THE shoes she wore to death years ago and she had to have them right now and do they have them in a size five?!

I left her to the shoes and went to enjoy the delightful breakfast treats they had put on for us which inlcuded pancakes, smoothies, gorgeous little muesli potts from Ottelenghi and muffins.

Back to the bags.  As well as the classic designs were the new collection which I’d already been eyeing since seeing the pictures earlier and fallen a little bit in love with and in the flesh the woven leather sage is even prettier.

As for the exclusive Westfield bag, somehow we imagined it to be smaller but they’re actually really roomy. Perfect for those of us who carry our lives around in our bag (i.e. me). Here I am, sporting the white version and the red version below which my aforemented colleague has already put her name down for.

Coach opens at Westfield London!

There were a couple of members of the Westfield team who did a little celebration dance when they heard that Coach was coming to the UK. No more requests across the pond for Coach bags, no more duty charges for ordering online;  Coach was venturing across the pond, and better still, was coming to Westfield London.

Celeb fans of the brand include the likes of Eva Longoria, Rachel Bilson and Jessica Alba, who have all been seen sporting Coach’s classic designs.  As long-time fans ourselves we have to say the new collection is one of our favourite yet.  We love the ‘Sage’ and its woven counterpart, the aptly named ‘Woven Sage’.

But best of all is our very own limited edition Coach Westfield exclusive bag which comes in four tasty colours and retail at £695.

The Alexa Effect

Mulberry has plenty of reason to celebrate this week. First they picked up the British Fashion Award for Best Designer Brand on Tuesday and now they announce that their profits have risen by a very respectable 38 per cent.

The brand thanks the popularity of the Alexa bag, inspired by model and presenter Alexa Chung, for their rise in profits. The bag was so successful in fact that it created 60 jobs as Mulberry had to extend their Somerset factory to cope with demand.   Take that recession!

As for 2011, the Alexa may have a contender for the coveted ‘It-bag’ title in the form of the Mulberry Tillie. Like the Alexa, it has a satchel-style strap, but without the signature postman’s lock.  Prices for the Tillie will start at £795, though haircalf versions will go for £1750.

Peter Pilotto for Kipling

We love it when fab designers team up with an iconic brand to make aspirational pieces that little bit more accessible. So we were so pleased to hear that Kipling has worked with Peter Pilotto on a striking collection for A/W 10. Together, they’ve produced some really eye-catching accessories.

Peter Pilotto won an emerging talent award last year, so working with Kipling is an amazing platform to showcase their work. The bags and wallets feature really strong, bold prints in vibrant colours. There’s a definite cosmic vibe about the prints, and the signature Kipling monkey clings on to the space-age products.

The design duo behind Peter Pilotto say that their inspiration for the print was an ‘intergalactic traveller‘. So if you want to boldly go where no man has gone before, this is the accessories range for you!

The Peter Pilotto for Kipling capsule collection will be in store from 17th September 2010.

Our Top Five Spring Buys

The sun is out, the spring flowers are blooming and we’re in the mood to overhaul our wardrobe. But where to start? With so many new trends and fabulous new clothes out there, it can be hard to know what to buy, so we’re going to make that process easier for you with our top five spring must-haves!

1. A Military Cover-Up
Combat coats are back again on the fashion radar. There are so many different styles out there but as long as it’s khaki, it’s bang on trend for this season. Make sure you team your military cover-up with something super feminine though – such as a floral dress. Top-to-toe military should be left to the Territorial Army!

L-R: Parka, £49.99, River Island; Should detail coat, £85, M&S; Drawstring parka, £65, Topshop

2. A Satchel
It’s time to go back to school for this season’s must-have bag! Satchels are so cool that Mulberry have named one after the queen of cool, Alexa Chung, however, if you can’t afford the A-list price tag, the high street have lots of great alternatives.

L-R: Grey leather satchel, £45, New Look; Two-tone leather satchel, £50, Topshop; Brown satchel, £22, Accessorize

3.  Something Nude
If it isn’t flesh toned, then it just isn’t worth wearing this spring! The easiest way to wear this trend is with a dress – add black opaques until the weather warms up. If you’re not brave enough to go all nude, try an accessory such as a leg-lengthening shoe or nude bag.

L-R: Ruffle vest, £18, Dorothy Perkins; Lace-up shoe, £120, Kurt Geiger; J by Jasper Conran Clutch, £35, Debenhams; Feather dress, £150, Oasis

4.  Shorts
Skirts are still very much on the radar but ’tis the season to go short in shorts. From military inspired to pretty silk numbers, shorts are the perfect go-everywhere number. Team them with a blazer for the office or with a cami style top for a night out.

L-R: Navy shorts, £35, Warehouse; Pink shorts, £29.50, M&S; Military style shorts, £55, French Connection

5. A Mid Heel
We never thought we’d see the return of the ’90s kitten heel, but it’s back. Ditch your 5 inchers for something a little more manageable this season. Don’t stick to boring courts though – go for interesting heels, wooden soles, bright colours and quirky styles.

L-R: Wooden sandal, £40, Aldo; Stud sandal, £85, French Connection; Woven sandal, £65, Office

Steal Sarah Harding’s Style

We like to keep our eagle eyes on what our favourite celebrities are wearing, and we’re always very pleased when we discover that like us they have a penchant for the high street.

Sarah Harding is one such celebrity. In fact, she loves her Folli Follie gold clutch bag (£125) so much, she’s been spotted on more than one occasion toting the glam bag.

Our picture shows Sarah at her birthday party in November, however, we also know she chose to accessory her long, black dress with the gold clutch on New Yea’rs Eve as well. So, what are you waiting for, get yourself over to Folli Follie now to grab yourself a little piece of celebrity style.
