Burt’s Bees hand creme

Beauty Review: Burt’s Bees Beeswax and Banana Hand Creme

Available from: Boots, House of Fraser

Price: £9.99

What it claims to do:

Hands, often exposed to heat, cold, dirt and harsh detergents, are one of the first areas of the body to show aging. Keep yours soft and smooth with our super emollient hand creme.

Our reviewer says:

In the winter, my hands can get so very dry. I become a bit of a hand cream addict. So many creams are ultimately disappointing, no matter how many promises they make to keep my hands soft, smooth and moisturised. Not so with this Burts Bees cream. It is super thick and really does leave my hands feeling so much smoother and looking more alive again. Beeswax and banana sounds slightly offputting, but the smell isn’t overpowering or artificial.

Final verdict:

I love this hand cream. I first discovered it on a trip to the US years ago, and was so pleased when I was able to buy it here. If your hands are prone to dryness, try it. I highly recommend it and always have a tub on the go.

5 best nail polishes for under £10

We’re big fans of painted nails here at Westfield HQ. We’re always up for trying out the latest shades and brands. We have even been known to try out a new polish at our desks (sshhh, don’t tell!).

If you’re looking for a new nail polish and you don’t want to spend a fortune, we’ve discovered some great brands which won’t break the bank. We recommend them for colour, easy application and they’ll last you for at least a weekend. Best of all, they all cost under £10. We reckon that some of these are equal to, if not better than, some of the much more expensive nail polishes around.

So if you like to update your nail polish to match your latest outfit, we suggest you give these nail polishes a go. They have great new season colours too. Look out for autumnal hues and this season’s nudes and steely greys in particular.

Left to right: Topshop Nails in Cloud, £6; Essie nail polish in Chubby Cheeks, Debenhams £8.95; Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish in Pompous, Superdrug £3.49; Rituals nail polish in Late Night Ruby, £7.90; Max Factor Max Colour Effects in Red Carpet Glam, Boots £3.95.

Jergens Natural body lotion

Beauty Review: Jergens Naturals – Cocoa butter body moisturiser with vitamin E

Available from: Boots, Superdrug

Price: £4.99 (200 ml)

What it claims to do:
An outstanding light weight 96% natural lotion that immediately transforms dry, thirsty skin with natural moisturisers. Deeply conditions and doubles skin’s natural radiance with cocoa butter, sunflower seed oil and vitamin E.
Cocoa butter has a rich chocolately scent, known to deeply hydrate and tone skin. Sunflower seed oil softens the skin and helps skin maintain its moisture levels. Vitamin E works to help protect skin from free radical damage – a great anti-oxidant.
It applies smoothly, absorbs quickly and lasts all day.

Our reviewer says:
The strongest scent is the cocoa butter which is all good for a chocolate fan like me! You only need to use a little as it’s an incredibly rich lotion. My skin isn’t particularly dry, butthis moisturiser worked a treat on my heels. I think it’s really good value for money.  It applies really easily and the scent lasts all day.

Final verdict:
This is a great moisturising lotion to have on your shelf. It’s a really easy daily usage product that lasts a long time due to the little amount needed.

Furry boots

Shearling is one of the key trends for A/W 2010. The aviator jacket is definitely the hero piece for the season and there are heaps to choose from whether you’re looking for an investment piece or a quick fashion fix.

But furry linings go beyond the jacket this year. Look down and you’ll see some gorgeous boots with faux-fur details. Not only does that give it extra style creds, it also keeps your feet warmer on those chilly winter days. Fashion forward and practical too – who’d have thought it?

There are plenty of practical flat fur-lined boots around. Look out for some extra buckle detail, giving a nod to the biker boot and military styles. But if you’re a girl who can’t do without her heels, you’ll be pleased that there are some monster heels that still feature a Shearling cuff on the boot.

Here are five of our favourite high street finds.

Leftto right: Wentworth buckled boot, KG by Kurt Geiger £190; Grey Thandi boot, Reiss £195; Shearling heeled boot, Topshop £95; Shearling-lined lace up boot, Schuh £49.99; Tan trim fur boot, Dorothy Perkins £65

Think pink this October

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness month. To support this brilliant campaign, some of your favourite brands have launched special products to raise funds for breast cancer charities.

What better reason can you get to shop? You get a great fashion or beauty treat and breast cancer charities get a donation. That’s a double whammy feel good factor!

There are oodles of pink  goodies around, but here are some of our favourites available from Westfield London stores.

From left: H! Henry Holland T-shirt, Debenhams £15; Per Una stripe bow detail jumper, M&S £25; Graphic print Tshirt, Warehouse £25

Wedge boots

Are they shoes or are they boots? Either way, they are the hot accessory right now. We are loving the wedge shoe boot.

Left to right: Red or Dead brown Manhattan boot, Schuh £89.99; Black suede wedges, Pierre Hardy for Gap, £89; Taupe multi-buckle wedge, Dorothy Perkins £20; Grey suede wedge, New Look £39.99; Navy suede Birthday Suit wedge, Office £85.

Wedges are wondeful for fashionistas who are running in heels. They were everywhere at London Fashion Week. The platform is just so much more comfy than a killer heel. Not that fashion is about comfort, but it is a real bonus!

Oh-so-wearable, we like to team ours with this season’s leather trousers or a tapered trouser.

How do you wear yours?

Good Things Stay Clear Purifying Cleanser

Beauty Review: Good Things Stay Clear Purifying Cleanser

Price: £4.99
Available from: Exclusively at Boots
What it claims to do:
Oily skin needs careful treatment to clear away excess sebum without stripping it of moisture. In addition to mango and blueberry extracts, this gentle anti-blemish cleanser contains willow-bark extract, which has an anti-microbial action on the skin, so is good for young skin that is prone to breakouts.

Our reviewer says:
Good Things by British Journalist Alice Hart-Davis caught my eye recently in Boots so I decided to give it a go as my skin has broken out over the summer. I tend to avoid anti-acne skincare ranges as I find them too harsh on my skin and they only irritate it further. Good Things is more gentle than most brands and smells absolutely good enough to eat!

Final verdict:
I think this range is perfect for young skin as it cleanses without stripping the skin of moisture which can cause more breakouts and skin irritation. I think it’s perfect for teens and those starting out their first skincare regime and it’s a great price.

Clinique Almost Bronzer

Beauty Review: Clinique Almost Bronzer

Price: £22
From:  Clinique – Debenhams, Boots and House of Fraser
What it claims to do:
Sheer bronzing duo protects with broad-spectrum SPF 15. Versatile formula lets you customize and build your bronze from sun kissed to suntanned. Provides a natural look all-year round. Long-wearing. Oil free. For all skin types.

Our reviewer says:
I have always tended to go for pink-coloured blushes over bronzers as I don’t really like the orange tint that many bronzers add to your face.  Clinique’s bronzer is by far the best toned bronzer I have ever used. I used the light/medium as I have quite fair skin but it is also available in a medium/dark which is perfect for highlighting your summer tan.

Final verdict
I highly recommend this bronzer. The duo colour allows for you to build up your colour to the desired effect and the bronzer gives you a lovely sheer bronze/gold glow.  As it’s so light you can highlight your face before applying blush for added colour.
