Steal her style: Jessica Lowndes’ street party look

With the bunting up in the office and some of the team dressing up in red, white and blue today to celebrate tomorrow’s royal nuptuals there’s a real festive vibe at Westfield HQ.

With a few of us are going to street parties over the weekend we were debating what to wear when we stumbled across this picture of Jessica Lowndes in a Lipsy dress.  The 90210 beauty gets it spot on with a floral dress from the high street, blue shoe boots and minimal accessories.

We love this cute smudged floral dress from Dorothy Perkins for just £24.  Team with these KG by Court Geiger Courts (on sale for £69) and accessorise with a cocktail ring (this flower one is £8 from Debenhams) and you’re good to go.  Well, actually, you may need an umbrella.  Then you’re good to go.

Pairing her All Saints white dress with a pair of ankle boots, a hobo bag and vintage sunglasses this is the perfect laid-back look for Spring.  Here’s how to get the casual cool look:

The Alexa Effect

Mulberry has plenty of reason to celebrate this week. First they picked up the British Fashion Award for Best Designer Brand on Tuesday and now they announce that their profits have risen by a very respectable 38 per cent.

The brand thanks the popularity of the Alexa bag, inspired by model and presenter Alexa Chung, for their rise in profits. The bag was so successful in fact that it created 60 jobs as Mulberry had to extend their Somerset factory to cope with demand.   Take that recession!

As for 2011, the Alexa may have a contender for the coveted ‘It-bag’ title in the form of the Mulberry Tillie. Like the Alexa, it has a satchel-style strap, but without the signature postman’s lock.  Prices for the Tillie will start at £795, though haircalf versions will go for £1750.

Give winter the cold shoulder

As the party season approaches one question reigns supreme: to sleeve or not to sleeve.   For the indecisive among us, the answer is simple: we’ll have one of each please!

X Factor beauties Cheryl Cole and Danni Minogue have embraced the peekaboo shoulder look with Cheryl rocking a short gold number last week and Danni wearing a one-shoulder dress, not once, not twice, but five times so far in the finals.

The new LBD

The classic little black dress gets a modern twist with the appearance of ruffles, big bows across one shoulder, or one long sleeve. We love these two which are demure, simple but with enough character to make a party statement.

Left to right: Debut £90, Ben de Lisi ruffle shoulder dress £130, both at Debenhams.

Asymmetry at the office

Not just for party time, update your office look and add with a little bit of an added zest with one of these two neutral-coloured numbers. The two high street dresses add an understated elegance to any office look.  Just make sure you keep a jacket handy in case one shoulder gets a blast of winter air.

Maximum effect

The one shouldered maxi is Danni Minogue’s signature look this year favouring a full length asymetrical number over a Cheryl Cole mini.  Whether they’re flamenco or toga inspired dresses these dresses will make for a head-turning look, perfect for a more formal New Year’s Eve shindig.

Olivia Palermo for Mango

Mango has done it again. The latest celebrity to model their collection is the ever-stylish Olivia Palermo. As if that wasn’t enough to whet our appetite, her gorgeous boyfriend has got in on the act too.

Johannes Huebl and Olivia Palermo have to be one of the most super cute couples around right now, so we have to admire Mango for signing them up to model the winter collection. They follow in the oh-so-sexy footsteps of Hollywood siren and Mango model, Scarlett Johannson who made the AW10 Mango collection all the more desirable.

Strictly Fashion Lives

We couldn’t help but notice the eye-catching dress that Tess Daly wore on Sunday night’s Strictly Come Dancing results show. It was none other than the dress from our Fashion Lives AW10 campaign.

This fabulous dress caught our eye back in the summer. The Evangeline feather dress is available from Whistles for £350. We teamed it with an Aviator jacket and shearling-lined boots to give it a more edgy feel. We love the mix of textures – strong, structured leather with fluffy feathers.

Tess wore her dress in a more elegant way and added bold, strappy black heels. In Whistles AW10 campaign, they chose platform sandals and opaque black tights to accompany the dress.

It would make a wonderfully dramatic Christmas party look. How would you wear it?

How to wear Rihanna’s vibrant make-up look

Rihanna does strong make-up so well. She’s not one to go for the natural look with a nude palette. She likes to make a statement. We asked the experts at the Make Up Store for some tips on how to make Rihanna’s look work for you.

Emmelie, Make Up Store Westfield London Make Up Artist says:

To get a vibrant look with strong red lips and a dash of colour on the eye, start off by preparing the lips with  a lip exfoliater, moisturiser and primer. I recommend Make Up Store’s Lip Care Mix. Next, even out any redness on and around the lip area with a dash of foundation or concealer applied with a sponge. Follow with a little bit of powder.

Pick a matching lip liner to your lipstick. I’d pair Make Up Store’s Russian red lip pencil together with our China Red lipstick. It’s a perfect combination for vibrant red lips. To achieve that important definition, start lining from the Cupid’s bow and down to the corner of the mouth. Follow your natural lipline, unless you want to add some extra pout. Fill the whole lip with the lippencil for lasting colour. Finally, apply your lipstick with a fine lipbrush.

To recreate her stunning eye look, apply eye primer thinly all over the lid. Follow by dabbing Make Up Store’s eye dust in Bamboo on the middle of the lid and around the globe line. Define with eyepencil between the lashes in the outer corner of the eye. I use Wooden Metal. Use a soft brush to smudge the pencil up and out.

Under the eyebrow and in the corner of the eye, use High Tech Lighter in Magma. This way you get the full depth of your eye shape. Finish by curling your lashes and apply two coats of mascara for a full on evening look.

Sweep Make Up Store’s blusher in Mission onto the apple of the cheeks for added warmth and colour to complete this Rihanna-inspired look.
