Hot Or Not? The Body Is Back!

We’ve probably got Lady Gaga and her eccentric dress sense to thank for that ’80s classic, the body coming back into fashion. Back in the day, they were all the rage on the catwalk and suited the sleek, power dressing that was so popular.

Having worn the original bodies however, I’m somewhat reluctant to tip my toe in that trend again. For one, they were really quite uncomfortable and then there was the somewhat un-lady like issue of going to the toilet!

However, the body seems to be back with a vengeance and looks like carrying onto be a big trend for Spring/Summer 2010, with the underwear as outerwear theme that was seen on many of the catwalk shows. The new style bodies do have some plus points – they make layered dressing very easy and

If you do think the body is hot, wear them with jeans, flirty skater skirts and harem pants. Do not, whatever you do, team them with jeggings or leggings – camel toe is not a good look!

Colourful Coats

Brrr, it’s getting colder and if you haven’t already bought a new winter coat, now’s the time to get all wrapped up. This season, a coat isn’t just a practical thing, but a great addition to brighten up your winter wardrobe.

Forget boring old black and grey and throw caution to the wind, with a bright and beautiful cover up. The shops are full of an array of rainbow colours – from hot pink to lime green, there’s a shade to suit all.

The great thing about colour pop coats is that they can really zing up a boring outfit. One of our favourite tricks is to colour clash our tights – wear red tights with a pink coat for example, or clash green tights with a blue coat. It’s very Marc Jacobs – but without the price tag.

So get all wrapped up and banish the winter blues with one of these colourful coats…

Go Wild For Animal Print!

It’s the print that just doesn’t seem to be going away! Leopard print has come a long way from the days of being associated with EastEnders characters and market stalls and is proving it’s fashion credentials by being seen on the back stylish stars such as Kate Moss and Lily Allen.

The high street has really gone wild for this dramatic print – and we can see why. It’s a simple way to elevate a boring item such as a mac or scarf into a whole new fashion realm! For the daring among you, it’s one print that looks amazing in bright colours or clashed with other prints, however, even for those normally nervous of prints, it’s one look to try out.

Why not add a bright pink leopard print scarf (like the one below from Dorothy Perkins) over a boring black coat? Or perhaps add a touch of the exotic to skinny jeans with some leopard print boots from Clarks?

And it needn’t stop at your wardrobe – Julien McDonald has designed fabulous leopard print martini glasses for his Debenhams range, so you can now bring a touch of animal magic to your home. Grrr!

Steal Cat Deeley’s Style

With the days getting colder, we’ve been thinking about getting a new winter coat. The problem is there are just too many too choose from so thank goodness for Cat Deeley!

We spied a picture of her arriving at an aiport, looking all girl next door casual sexy, in a gorgeous grey military style coat. Obviously we thought this was above our means, but were delighted to find out it actually came from Monsoon.

The Michelangelo Military Coat is from their Fusion range and we think it’s the perfect winter cover up. As Cat proved, it looks great teamed with skinny jeans and casual boots, but will also look great over workwear. We’re snapping it up now as at £100, it’s a real celebrity steal!

Hot or Not? Snoods

Back in the decade that style forgot – also known as the ‘80s – there were many strange and unwearable trends. Even though the ‘80s is back with a vengeance, the styles have been given a noughties feel, meaning people look cool rather than foolish! However, we’ve noticed one particular trend that has resurfaced and we’re just not sure how we feel about it.

Wikipedia says a snood is ‘to a tubular neck protector or warmer’ which in theory is fine, however, isn’t that the function a scarf has? It can obviously be used as a hood – snood is after all a mixture of the words scarf and snood – but it can look slightly odd. Nativity plays spring to mind for some reason!

Lots of shops are selling the new look snood, including Dorothy Perkins, which have come up with this vibrant pink version for £15. While it looks quite cute, it does look like a scarf, which begs the question, why don’t you just buy a scarf? However, the most disturbing new snood on the block has to be the men’s version! While wearing it as a scarf (as this New Look one is), it’s fine, but really will any man ever use the hood facility.

So is this another trend flash in the pan resigned to the bargain bin in three months or are snoods here to stay? We hope not – but what do you think? Post your comments below now!

Go Pink This Month!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and thanks to lots of limited edition pink products available on the high street, it’s never been easier to support this fabulous initiative.

From blinged up iPod covers to pink beauty products, retailers will be donating a set figure from these fabulous products to various charities helping to fund the fight against breast cancer.

We’ve picked out some of our favourites available to buy. They include the fabulous M&S Graffiti dress, which we’ll be wearing with some fierce shoe boots; and the bright pink lingerie set from Ultimo (available to buy at Debenhams). It’s so good that it shouldn’t be hidden away!

Costing £16-£20, Dorothy Perkins will donate £5 to Breast Cancer Awareness. We particularly like Alexander Burke’s ‘80s inspired T-shirt, inspired by her favourite words Peace and Love!

Beautiful Boots

It’s the season to put your best foot foward!

‘Flat, high, ankle, over the knee – boots are really key this season. I love a thigh boot. It’s intensely feminine but such a powerful, strong look. There’s a hint of fetishism, a hint of pantomime but worn right, they’re really sexy – women love to wear them I always find, they are so empowering’ says Will Baker

So you can make sure you’re truly in style, we’ve searched Westfield London for the best over-the-knee boots around.

These boots are made for walking!

The Dorothy Perkins suede boots (far left) are great if you’re not into heels and at £70 are a real bargain. Wear these with a cute mini and slouchy cardigan for a cool weekend look. For the rock chicks among you, head on over to River Island where we found these studded beauties (£129). They’ll loook great over leggings or skinny jeans. Finally, if you want a dressier pair, we’re loving these ones on the far left  from Aldo (£160). Not only are they darn sexy, but the clever ruching detail means you won’t get them slipping down.
