Gemma Arterton is the face of G-Star

Gemma Arterton has gone from Brit flick St Trinians to Bond Girl Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace to showing her tough side in big budget flicks in Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia.  And now the classically British beauty has been confirmed as the face of G-Star, an association which she says suits her perfectly.

“I feel like a tough girl in a fancy frock sometimes, and I think G-Star is the same. I like the contradiction between glamour and durability. Sometimes people are shocked when they meet me because of this contradiction,” she said at the G-Star Raw UK Night party last week.

Gemma will feature in the upcoming spring/summer 2011 campaign, which has been shot by iconic photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn.

Gemma Arterton’s red carpet look

Here at Westfield HQ, we’ve been buzzing about last night’s world premiere Prince of Persia at Vue, Westfield London. Gemma Arterton brought some old-school Hollywood style glamour to the red carpet. Her exquisite Valentino gown really had the wow factor.

Gemma plays Princess Tamara in the all action Disney movie, and she certainly looked every inch the princess on the red carpet last night.

Gemma went for a classic beauty look – showstopping red lipstick with a slicked back ponytail. So simple, so effective. Want to try the look yourself? Make sure you find a red lippy that works with your skintone. Orange-reds are best for those with medium and darker skintones. If you’re fair-skinned, look for a red with a bluish tone. Our favourite is Mac Ruby Woo lipstick (£12) which is a great all-rounder.

A sleek ponytail like Gemma’s is best-achieved when your hair hasn’t been washed for a day. Sweep your hair back with a paddle brush, then use a styling spray to fix any flyaway ends. Look out for Mason Pearson hairbrushes and the all time favourite hairstyling spray by Elnett (£3.50 for 2ooml).

Finally, don’t forget the ultimate accessory – the gorgeous Jake Gyllenhaal!

Fringe Benefits

Fed up with your hair but don’t want to sacrifice the length? Then you need to get a fringe! Fringes have been back in vogue for a couple of years, but the new trend for soft, layered fringes means this is one of the most wearable beauty looks of 2010!

As ever, those A-listers have already jumped on this trend bandwagon with stars such as Lily Allen, Rachel McAdams and Gemma Arterton all sporting the new soft fringe.

What’s great about this fringe is that it’s not such a full commitment as the blunt number seen a few seasons back, plus as these 3 ladies prove, it suits all hairstyles, hair colours and face shapes. It’s also one of those styles that look better the more grown out it is so need to book twice monthly appointments for a fringe trim! We’re booking our appointment now…
