Marni for H&M

We’d only just gotten over the frenzy that was the launch of Versace for H&M and started wondering what they’d do next… but we didn’t think they’d announce another partnership quite so soon.  The date is set as 8 March 2012 for the launch of Marni for H&M in stores.

Marni’s signature style is full of clashing prints, colour blocking and some edgy, sporty style with plenty of tribal influence in 2012.  Here founder Consuela Castigliano gives us a little peek into the collection as she talks about the collaboration:

The Very Best of Versace for H&M. On your marks…

We’ve been counting down the days till the launch of the collection since the announcement of the Versace and H&M collaboration back in June.  Donatella Versace herself said it would be iconic and quintissentially Versace and the collection lives up to it. Featuring bold Versace prints alongside more classic, timeless pieces this has to be the most exciting designer/high street collaboration yet.

Versace for H&M: classic silver and black

Versace for H&M: bold colour

So, with just two more days to go we’ve been meticulously planning our purchases.   Do we go for brash, bright classic Versace or more understated garments with staying power? The black silk dress with Versace logo buttons worn by Helena Christensen is one of our faves.

Take a look at some of our other top picks:  The Very Best of Versace for H&M.

Of course once the decisions are made, the question is, how do we make sure we get our hands on the ones we want. Experience proves that these collaborations sell out within moments and no doubt 17 November will be a frenzy at stores.  For the H&M stores at Westfield centres there will be a queuing system in place whereby the first 280 people in the queue can shop from the women’s designer collection only.  Then, after the first two hours, the designer area will open to all customers.  So, if you want your pick of the bunch, make sure you’re one of the first in the queue.

Which pieces are you on your wish list?

Pippa Middleton’s H&M dress

We’re not over Pippa yet and we still love it when we find the sibling to royalty sporting a high street label.  This pretty lace dress from H&M is £24.99.

Pippa makes the dress work for the dreary weather with dark accessories and, that London autumn/winter essential, the umbrella.

The Look Show coming to Westfield Stratford City

We’ve got less than three weeks  till the launch of Westfield Stratford City on 13 September which, in itself is exciting enough, but then just a few days later on the 17 September, we’ll be watching the high street’s best on the catwalk for The Look Show right there in the shiny new centre.  We can’t contain ourselves so of course we won’t.  Here’s what to expect.

Autumn/Winter Collections

Gorgeous new ranges from H&M, M&S, Monsoon and a divine collection from personal favourite Mango (just look at the floaty maxi) are just some of the things you can expect on the runway.

Famous faces

Last year several British and international celebrities joined the front row and this year Sarah Harding will be strutting her stuff on the catwalk this year.  The Girl’s Aloud star can add modelling to her already multi-talented CV when she makes her runway debut on 17 September.

Brilliant bloggers

Look launched a blogging competition to be a VIP at the show and an amazing 300 bloggers entered.  Here are the top 20 who all wrote about why they should be on the front row.  They all make really great reads so do take a look:

The final five will be chosen this week by members of the Westfield team, the Look team and blogger extraordinaire Catwalk Queen.

Lanvin for H&M

Oh wow. Oh wow. We can hardly contain our excitement here at Westfield HQ. We might just get our hands on some exquisite Lanvin-designed pieces.
H&M has announced its latest designer collaboration. This November, Lanvin for H&M will hit the stores. We reckon it’ll be one of the most anticipated fashion drops of the year. Only two and a bit months to wait…

It’s not the first time that H&M have surprised the fashion pack with their collaborations. In previous seasons, they’ve teamed up with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garçons and Sonia Rykiel.

Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin says: “H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.”

We say: roll on 23rd November when the collection arrives at H&M

Caped crusaders

Wondering how to update your wardrobe for the new season? One of the must-have items this Autumn/Winter is the cape, in all its swirling glory.

Cashmere cape, COS £219

It was seen on many designer catwalks. Favourites of ours were Celine, Chloe and Halston. Versions are now arriving daily in high street stores.

You may think the cape is hard to wear, but believe us, it’s not. It is the ultimate statement piece. Just throw it on and get an instant fashion upgrade. It suits all sizes and shapes too. Be warned though – you may feel compelled to swirl around in it like some kind of highwayman or Sherlock Holmes!

Left to right: Candy stitch cape, Reiss £195; Black military cape, Topshop £95

The wool cape is the ideal winter cover-up, but we’re also big fans of this trench-style cape from H&M.

Mac-style cape, H&M £34.99

Look out for capes in a range of colours. There are easy-to-wear, elegant styles in camel and black. Styles embracing the season’s military trend in khaki or stone with metal buttons and detail. Or you could stand out from the crowd in bright reds and bold checks.

Left to right: Check cape, M&S £65; Khaki parka cape, Miss Selfridge at House of Fraser £42

Totally tropical

Summer’s here and it’s time to get into the holiday spirit. Embrace the sunshine vibe with tropical prints in bright colours.

Bold designs abound right now. Look out for palm trees, tropical flowers and even a parrot or two.

Wear this versatile trend your way. Dress it down with a relaxed printed tee and cute shorts or dress it up with all out glamour. There is a veritable array of bright, floaty dresses around. You can even go for full on shimmer with sequin detail.

You can work this summery look whether you’re heading to the Bahamas or Blackpool, Ibiza or the Isle of Wight. Blast out Club Tropicana, order a cocktail and grab your sunnies.

Hot or Not? Dungarees

When Alexa Chung recently wore Ralph Lauren dungarees in the March issue of Vogue, we all knew that the head-to-toe Americana denim revival was in full swing.

A clear ‘love or hate’ item that originally began life as men’s workwear, dungarees have once again seen a revival on catwalks around the globe. A very tricky trend to pull off – associations with farmers and mechanics spring to mind -  they were last seen in the ’90s before they were banished to our charity-shop pile.

We’re not convinced here at Westfield HQ and think they’re best left to toddler-wear, but for those who want to embrace the trend, Oasis, H&M and River Island all have options in their Spring/Summer collections. For a modern, feminine take on the look, team yours with a camisole or semi-sheer blouse and nude coloured shoes.

L-R: Oasis dungarees, £45, River Island dungarees, £29.99, Whistles Pinafore Dungarees, £135.

Jimmy Choo hits H&M

Ooo, we’ve been waiting for this day since June, when we first heard that luxury accessories brand Jimmy Choo were teaming up with one of our high street faves, H&M. Well that day is almost here! On Saturday 14th November, the new range will be sold in 200 stores worldwide – and what a fabulous range it is!

Featuring key animal prints often seen in the high end Jimmy Choo line, the prices thankfully are more affordable. The collection doesn’t only include shoes and bags either – we love this suede fringed dress (£49.99) and this beautiful beaded dress (£99.99), which is just perfect for Christmas parties! And all you stylish men out there, will be pleased to know that it’s not just for ladies – the range includes some great menswear – like this leather jacket at £179.99.

If you’re planning on snapping up some of this limited edition range, we say be quick and get queuing early on Saturday morning! In the meantime, we’ve selected some of our other favourite key pieces from the range to get your fashion tastebuds salivating…

Back to Black

We know that pink and cobalt blue are big colour trends this season, but sometimes you really can’t beat classic black. And that’s where H&M’s fantastic new range, Divided Exclusive, comes in.

Their new collection is a fabulous head-to-range, including studded biker jackets, party frocks, biker chic jeans and glam accessories. It’s fashion with attitude – think Alice Dellal, Kate Moss and Leigh Lezark.

What we really love about Divided Exclusive is that it has a fabulous designer feel to it, but without the huge price tag – items start at a very reasonable £17.99. The details also make this a must-have for your wardrobe – structured shoulders, cutaway ankles, and embellishment galore will fool your fashion friends into thinking you’ve invested in a whole new designer wardrobe.

Our particular favourites are the silver dress (£79.99) and ruffle party frock (£59.99), which will both look amazing with this studded leather jacket (£129.99) thrown casually over the top.

We’ve also had it on good authority that H&M in Westfield London also received most of the collection, so if you want to be a true party queen, head on over now and get shopping. We’ll see you in the queue!
