Summer sales shopping: Bright colours

Block colour has been a massive trend for this season and will contine, with a slightly more autumnal feel, into next season.  Plus, a brightly coloured accessory will never really go out of fashion, whether paired with other brights or to give an otherwise understated outfit a little pop of colour.

Investing in a quality trench like this one from Aquascutum will brighten up any rainy day (Was £495, is £225) while this Pied a Terre ‘Stella’ bag sold out in a matter of days when it first went on sale but now it’s available for a fraction of the cost  (was £115 , is £57.50); both from House of Fraser.

As Olivia Palermo pointed out recently, flats really are the chicest shoe and I’ve got my eyes on this pair of Jimmy Choos in gorgeous purple (£87.50, down from £125).  For ‘statement’ shoes the multi-coloured Carvela shoes with a touch of leopard print  from Kurt Geiger certainly make a statement (now £79.00, down from £130).

Get the look: Pippa Middleton’s style day to night

It would be a bit of an understatement to say the Middletons are getting rather a lot of attention at the moment.  From how they got their summer glow to the secret of Kate Middleton’s bouncy hair to the exercises Pippa Middleton does to get her posterior so pert, everywhere you look Middleton mania is rife.

But since Pippa’s star turn as maid of honour at the wedding of the year the sister dubbed ’Her Royal Hotness’ has also become a bit of a style icon.  While some query her fashionista status we have to profess that we think both the Middletons with their simple, understated and elegant but accessible sartorial choices are a breath of fresh air.

They have their favourite designers – both are very fond of Issa dresses - but rarely will you see the ladies kitted out in head-to-toe designer gear, with both Kate and Pippa prefering to fly the flag for the high street.

The day after the wedding, Pippa wore a blue blazer from Zara (pictured left) which sold out in days and it’s ZaraFrench Connection and Reiss that feature again and again in the Middleton wardrobes.

Unlike plenty of others in the public eye, Pippa Middleton tends to wear the things she likes more than once.  By day she’s rarely seen without her Modalu bag, a bag which the brand have now renamed the ‘Pippa’ while the gorgeous sparkly Jimmy Choo clutch she wore with her green dress for the Royal Wedding reception also made an appearance during a recent night out to the Kensignton Roof Gardens.

We’ve picked out two of Pippa’s daytime and evening looks featuring the items she bought so you too can steal her style.

Pippa pairs her French Connection  Talia’s tail dress (£57 and still available in store!) with her £149 Modalu bag  and a pair of mid height court wedges.  The Maddox shoe in dusk pink is from LK Bennett (£165).

  Pippa Middleton French Connection Dress

For the evening, Pippa Middleton was recently spotted in this pink silk ruffled dress (£110, French Connection at House of Fraser) and a classic black blazer - we love this one from Reiss (£179) - and the famous Zeta clutch by Jimmy Choo (£265).

What do you think? Is she a style icon in your book or not?

Naomi Campbell launches Fashion for Relief shop

Last night Naomi Campbell set up shop in The Village in Westfield London to launch possibly the best vintage store I’ve ever seen, her Fashion For Relief store.  Among her guests were fellow models such as Jodie Kidd, actors including The Wire and Thor star Idris Alba, and DJ for the night Sophie Ellis Bexter.

Here’s a sneak peak of what happened on the the night:

Sales were already flying off the shelves as a gold Victoria Beckham dress was very quickly snapped up.  We lusted after the outfits worn by the cast of Sex and the Cityand saw the Charlotte Olympia leopard print booties, made famous by Olivia Palermo at Fashion Week, on sale at less than half price (I would have bought them right there and then if they weren’t in a model foot size 8!)

Still there were plenty of other shoes ranging from Jimmy Choos to Christian Louboutins, at a hugely discounted price tag of around £200 – £300, to rummage through and some stunning dresses worn on the catwalk and the red carpet by everyone from Kate Moss to Shirley Bassey.

The shop will be restocked daily and is open for one week only.  Trust me, it’s well worth a visit and since all proceeds are going to the Prince’s Trust I see absolutely no reason not to buy yourself something pretty.  Well, that’s what I’m telling myself anyway.

Spend or save: wellies

Our diaries are full of amazing outdoor events over the next few months. But as ever, the British summer is looking totally unpredictable. Sun or rain – who knows? So we’ve decided to be as prepared as the most organised of boy scouts.

Sunglasses and umbrella – check
Flirty mini and floaty maxi – check
Cute shorts and utility combats – check
Flip flops and wellies – check.

But when it comes to wellies, which kind do you go for?

We’re coveting Jimmy Choo’s fabulous new range for Hunter, but we’re questioning whether we could really expose such exquisite croc-print boots to the extremely harsh realities of festival portaloos.

The original Hunter welly is available in a variety of colours and there’s a new biker-style festival version with buckle detail to look out for (£145 at Office). It’s a classic style, mixing practicality with fashion.

More of a glamper than a back to nature style camper? There are plenty of choices around for you. For girls who like their boots cute and pretty, check out the floral and patterned versions at Accessorize and Barratts.

If you’re looking for something in between, we like the Office mid-length rubber boot with quilted texture and available in cream, berry and even pink.

Bring on the festival season. We’re ready for you, whatever the weather.

Jimmy Choo hits H&M

Ooo, we’ve been waiting for this day since June, when we first heard that luxury accessories brand Jimmy Choo were teaming up with one of our high street faves, H&M. Well that day is almost here! On Saturday 14th November, the new range will be sold in 200 stores worldwide – and what a fabulous range it is!

Featuring key animal prints often seen in the high end Jimmy Choo line, the prices thankfully are more affordable. The collection doesn’t only include shoes and bags either – we love this suede fringed dress (£49.99) and this beautiful beaded dress (£99.99), which is just perfect for Christmas parties! And all you stylish men out there, will be pleased to know that it’s not just for ladies – the range includes some great menswear – like this leather jacket at £179.99.
