Lush Glorious Mud body scrub

Beauty Review: Lush Glorious Mud body scrub

Lush Glorious Mud body scrub: beauty review

Price: £3.95 per cube
Where to buy: Lush
What it claims to do:
It’s a fizzy cube of rhassoul mud (cleansing clay from the Atlas mountains often used in mud masks) to be used all over the body to cleanse. The aloe vera extract is soothing, and the mix of sesame and vanilla will moisturise.
Mask your whole body for smooth, soft skin. It’s a combination of the basics of a mud mask with a little bit of Mo’s ballistic wisdom to get that fizzing effect that allows it to be smoothed over the body.

Our reviewer says:
I wasn’t sure about the scent of this product. It’s similar to their Crème Anglaise body lotion.  However, it’s worth giving it a whirl for the results on your skin. It leaves your skin so smooth. Your skin looks more moisturized instantly. It must be the sesame and vanilla.

The cube does fizz like a ballistic and I went a bit mad using the full thing in one go directly onto my skin. It is very messy too. My white shower and tiles looked very much like a beach by the time I was done. It’s probably not one to use on a work morning if you’re like me and prefer an extra 5 minutes in bed to 5 minutes spent rinsing down the shower afterwards!

I also used it on my feet as they don’t generally get much TLC and it worked a treat!

Final verdict:
This isn’t a product that I would use on a daily basis. It’s more for a weekend treat and it’s definitely a good one to use before applying something like Charlotte Island Body Tint. I give it top marks for leaving your skin feeling soft, supple and moisturised.

Long live summer

Here at Westfield HQ, we’re not ready for summer to be over. We’re desperate to keep that warm, sunny glow going for a while longer.

When you think of orange make-up, you may think of bad fake tan. Orange skintone is not one we covet. Being Tango’d is so last decade. But, despite what you may think, you really can wear orange make-up. In fact, orange lips look great with a tan. They also work really well on with fair skins – just experiment to find the shade that works for you.

The same can be said for orange eye shadow. Play around to find out what suits you – peach, coral or citrus. Not feeling that bold? Make a statement with some bright orange nail polish.

Left to right: Orange eyeshadow, MAC £11; Orange Nails, Topshop £5; L’Oreal Glamshine lipgloss in Sheer Peach, Superdrug £6.99; Citrus lipstick, Make Up Store £12.50.

Fresh, citrus fragrances can bring back those sunny, holiday memories too. One waft of scent and your mind is cast back to Mediterranean orange groves or even just that fruity cocktail you sipped on from your sunlounger. Orange fragrance is known for its uplifting properties too, so it’s ideal to combat post-holiday blues. Start your day with a citrus-scented shower gel or spray on a luscious perfume, and you’ll feel brighter instantly.

Left to right: Boss Orange Sunset EDT, The Perfume Shop £39.99 (75ml); Satsuma shower gel, The Body Shop £6 (250ml); Sunny shower, L’Occitane £12.50 (250ml); Orange Blossom solid perfume, Lush £5.50.

Lush body tint

Beauty Review: Lush Charlotte Island body tint

Price: £4.95 (100ml) or £9.95 (240ml)

Available from: Lush

What it claims to do:
Our new bronzing body tint helps you to build a healthy glow without having to subject yourself to excessive sunlight. We’ve made it with organic lemon infusion, organic oils and cocoa butter to brighten and hydrate the skin.
It’s easily absorbed, full of cooling aloe vera gel to cool sore and sensitive skin with a violet and banana fragrance.

Our reviewer says:
I was incredibly excited when this product hit the stores as I have tried a lot of fake tans and generally been put off by how difficult they are to apply and also how they smell liked Rich Tea biscuits! The scent of this one is lovely,  even though violet and banana sounds like a random combo.
It’s really easy to apply and surpringly easy to create an even tone on my skin. When I tried it I had a few random sunburn lines (that’s what you get for falling asleep on the beach before re-applying the factor 50!), so I was even more pleased that it matched evenly.

It does absorb really well, but like every fake tan product, you need to make sure your skin is fully exfoliated before applying it otherwise it’ll clump.

Final verdict:
I love this! It smells great and you can use apply as many layers as you need according to your skin tone. This is my new best friend for summer!

Lush body cream

Beauty review: Lush Karma Kream

Price: £11.20 (220g)
Available from: Lush

What it claims
Our orange flower water and almond oil body lotion packs good Karma into one Kreamy pot. Smooth it all over your body for fragrance and softness. Karma’s essential oils are absorbed through your skin to keep you feeling balanced. Wear it for the fragrance and for its skin-soothing kindness.

Our reviewer says
I love the smell of this body lotion and often get comments from people asking what it is if they’re standing next to me. It absorbs  into the skin really easily with no greasiness whatsoever leaving your skin really smooth and soft. The fragrance lasts most of the day and only needs topping up for the evening if you’re heading out after work.

Final verdict
I’ve used this body cream for years and I never get tired of  it. The smell makes you feel like you’re in the Middle East with orange, lavender, patchouli, pine and lemongrass.
There are also other products in the Karma range to complement this so you can go Karma crazy!

Julie’s favourite beauty treatment
My favourite beauty treatment is definitely a shoulder or neck massage. As a confirmed Lush addict, their new body massages are always welcome.

Julie’s best beauty tip
Brush your lips with a toothbrush pre-lip balm/gloss/ lippie application to make them look so much plumper and smilier!
Keep eye gel in the fridge – it’s great for cooling puffy eyes and helping to reduce dark circles.
