Pregnancy – It’s The New Fashion!

Is it just us or does there seem to be a whole heap of pregnant celebrities around at that moment? Dannii Minogue, Claudia Schiffer, Denise Van Outen, Amy Adams – it seems if you’re not up the duff, then you’re simply not fashionably in the world of the celebrity.

Now obviously we know babies are more than a fashion accessory, but the latest batch of mums-to-be are blooming, proving that just because you’re pregnant, you don’t have to be unfashionable. From Claudia’s school run casual chic, to Amy and Denise’s red carpet looks, being pregnant hasn’t stopped these gorgeous girls looking great.

Our top tip to keeping fashionable while you’re pregnant? Check out your high street favourites to see if they do a maternity range – TopShop, River Island, New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Next and M&S all have maternity sections, which basically featured slightly adapted versions of their main range.

Also, just try buying a size bigger from your favourite shops? This might not work with trousers but for tops and dresses, especially those made in stretchy, jersey fabrics, it does mean you can carry on being that fashionable yummy mummy without sacrificing on comfort.

The only thing you might have to sacrifice is your heels, but thankfully Spring/Summer sees the return of the kitten heel, which is much more manageable when you’re carrying an extra person.

And with the likes of Claudia as style icons, you’ll be spoilt for inspiration. We just can’t wait to see how Dannii styles up her bump!

Celebrity Trend: Glam Knitwear

When we saw Lauren Conrad pitch up on the red carpet in a little grey dress and a black sequin cardigan, we knew we had to follow her lead grab ourselves some glam knitwearl!

It’s the perfect festive fashion statement, which will look just as great on the dance floor at the Christmas party as it will with jeans for those Boxing Day celebrations.

The key is to keep the rest of your outfit simple and let the sequins do the talking! We’ve chosen our favourite three sequinned cardigans on the high street – grab one now to inject a touch of glamour into your Christmas.

Colourful Coats

Brrr, it’s getting colder and if you haven’t already bought a new winter coat, now’s the time to get all wrapped up. This season, a coat isn’t just a practical thing, but a great addition to brighten up your winter wardrobe.

Forget boring old black and grey and throw caution to the wind, with a bright and beautiful cover up. The shops are full of an array of rainbow colours – from hot pink to lime green, there’s a shade to suit all.

The great thing about colour pop coats is that they can really zing up a boring outfit. One of our favourite tricks is to colour clash our tights – wear red tights with a pink coat for example, or clash green tights with a blue coat. It’s very Marc Jacobs – but without the price tag.

So get all wrapped up and banish the winter blues with one of these colourful coats…

Rainbow Brights

‘Tis the season to carry a clutch! With all the Christmas parties and social events coming up, a clutch is every party girl’s best friend. Not only are they big enough to carry around those essentials – lip gloss, cash, house keys – but they can also really add a bit of festive sparkle to your outfit.

We particularly love the array of bright clutches that have hit the high street.  With everyone watching the pennies this year, a bright clutch is a great way of accessorizing last year’s Little Black Dress – plus they also look great with denim for those less formal Christmas get-togethers.

We’ve selected some of our favourites available on the high street – and at these prices, why not splash out on a couple and rotate through the Christmas party season?

Steal Cat Deeley’s Style

With the days getting colder, we’ve been thinking about getting a new winter coat. The problem is there are just too many too choose from so thank goodness for Cat Deeley!

We spied a picture of her arriving at an aiport, looking all girl next door casual sexy, in a gorgeous grey military style coat. Obviously we thought this was above our means, but were delighted to find out it actually came from Monsoon.

The Michelangelo Military Coat is from their Fusion range and we think it’s the perfect winter cover up. As Cat proved, it looks great teamed with skinny jeans and casual boots, but will also look great over workwear. We’re snapping it up now as at £100, it’s a real celebrity steal!

Suited and Booted

William’s show contained lots of amazing looks for the boys but if the wild and wonderful isn’t for you, invest instead in a classic suit.

‘Style is personal and fashion is expression. The classic suit is always a winner for any man. Mix it up, add a dash of personality, make it live!’ says Will.

We love this look that he styled for our limited edition look book, which gives an urban twist to the old suit and tie combination.

The suit, tie and shirt are all available to buy from Pal Zaleri, while the scarf is from River Island. Remember boys, suits needn’t be dull!

Beautiful Boots

It’s the season to put your best foot foward!

‘Flat, high, ankle, over the knee – boots are really key this season. I love a thigh boot. It’s intensely feminine but such a powerful, strong look. There’s a hint of fetishism, a hint of pantomime but worn right, they’re really sexy – women love to wear them I always find, they are so empowering’ says Will Baker

So you can make sure you’re truly in style, we’ve searched Westfield London for the best over-the-knee boots around.

These boots are made for walking!

The Dorothy Perkins suede boots (far left) are great if you’re not into heels and at £70 are a real bargain. Wear these with a cute mini and slouchy cardigan for a cool weekend look. For the rock chicks among you, head on over to River Island where we found these studded beauties (£129). They’ll loook great over leggings or skinny jeans. Finally, if you want a dressier pair, we’re loving these ones on the far left  from Aldo (£160). Not only are they darn sexy, but the clever ruching detail means you won’t get them slipping down.

New Season Shimmer And Shine

When we spoke to William Baker about his favourite fashion trends, he told us that he just loved, loved, loved sequins and anything that shimmers, so we weren’t surprised when we saw this fabulous look he created for our look book (which will be given away all this week at Westfield London).

‘Add a sequinned something to any outfit this season for an instant update. There are so many around. For me more is more, wear sequins with sequins AND a statement necklace.’ says Will.

If you want to recreate this outfit, you can find the T-shirt and trousers at River Island, and the waistcoat is from Twenty8Twelve.  If you don’t want to go head-to-toe in shimmer, try a sequinned scarf and belt, which will make your oufit look very modern and oh-so-on-trend! Check out Mimco and Accessorize for some sparkling goodies.

Loving The ’80s!

As well as creating a unique catwalk show, William Baker has also produced a fabulous look book, which will be given out at Westfield London on the days of the catwalk shows – 24th and 26th September.

It’s the only book you’ll need to ensure your wardrobe is up-to-date, featuring all the big new season trends, plus Will’s favourite must-have items – all of which are available to buy at Westfield London.

William Baker fashion shoot

Will chose this fabulous hooded body from River Island (£24.99) for the ‘80s trend that is big this season:

‘This is very me. It’s very Grace Jones, very Alaia. There’s a lot of 80’s inspired looks around but in a really modern way, look out for the new shoulder pad shape and this rich purple is a key colour for the winter.’

Make sure you don’t take this trend too literally – you don’t want to look like you’re in fancy dress! Take accents of the trend, such as structured shoulders, and mix them in with your normal wardrobe. Aside from River Island, New Look, TopShop, and Zara are all great places to shop this trend.
